Cross-border vehicle compliance for international vehicle owners
Temporary use, customs, residence, insurance and international logistics for supercars and collector vehicles in Switzerland, the European Union and the United Kingdom.
We clarify the correct compliance structure before the vehicle is moved – and then coordinate authorities, documentation, transport and re-export through a single discreet contact person.
One vehicle. Multiple legal jurisdictions. One central interface.
A foreign registration does not automatically mean that a vehicle can be used in another country. The correct procedure can depend on the driver's usual place of residence, any additional residence permits, the vehicle's country of registration, ownership, intended use, length of stay, insurance coverage, and the vehicle's customs status.
For high-value vehicles, the consequences of an incorrect structure can significantly outweigh the costs of a proper assessment before transport.
Supercar Compliance coordinates the case prior to transport, creates a documented audit path, and manages the operational interfaces required for implementation.
Clarify the situation before the vehicle is shipped.

INTERNATIONAL SUPERCAR COMPLIENCE
1. Confidential Pre-Check
We collect relevant information about residence, vehicle, driver, usage and logistics, and identify potential conflicts or missing documentation before the vehicle is moved.
2. Compliance Assessment
If it is not a standardized low-risk case, we will examine the applicable customs structure and prepare the documents for individual official clarification.
3. Handling of official documents and logistics
Once the structure is confirmed, we will coordinate customs, insurance, freight, airport or port handling, local transport and any necessary permits.
4. Re-export & Completion
We monitor the permissible period of use, required exit or re-export steps, and the documents necessary for the proper conclusion of the temporary procedure.

Switzerland, European Union and United Kingdom
The legal requirements are not identical in all jurisdictions. A vehicle that may be used temporarily in one country may require a different structure, declaration, or additional documentation in another.
Switzerland
For persons residing in Switzerland, the use of a foreign vehicle that has not been cleared through customs is generally restricted and only possible in limited exceptional cases.
For persons residing abroad, the private temporary use of a foreign-registered vehicle may be possible for a limited period, provided the respective requirements are met.
European Union
The temporary use of non-Union vehicles generally depends on the vehicle being registered outside the EU and the respective requirements regarding the establishment or habitual residence of the user or owner being met.
Exceptions may apply for certain users based in the EU, which must be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
United Kingdom
Temporary Admission can allow temporary private use of foreign vehicles by users not resident in the United Kingdom, provided that the requirements regarding ownership, registration, use and maximum length of stay are met.
For individuals residing in the United Kingdom, the possible exemptions need to be examined more closely.
The actual circumstances of each individual case and the assessment of the competent authorities remain decisive.
FAMILY OFFICE VEHICLE COMPLIANCE
A central overview of the entire vehicle collection
For family offices, the challenge rarely lies with just one vehicle. A reliable overview of multiple owners, vehicles, legal jurisdictions, residences, insurers, and transport movements is crucial.
Our Family Office Compliance Service is designed to centrally manage the following information:
Vehicle and ownership data
Residence and driving privileges
Compliance status by country
Validity and expiry dates of temporary import procedures
Action deadlines as well as reminders regarding extensions or departure
Insurance documents
Correspondence with customs and other authorities
Transport and re-export documentation
Compliance and logistics coordinated from a single source
When a vehicle is moved by air freight, sea freight or enclosed transport, compliance structure and logistics planning should be coordinated before a booking can no longer be easily reversed.
Our Supercar Logistics department can coordinate airline and freight offers, export processing, insurance, airport and port interfaces, customs brokers, arrival processes in Switzerland, the EU, and the United Kingdom, as well as subsequent onward transport. Third-party costs for freight, insurance, handling, and authorities are quoted separately.
Check the structure before the vehicle is shipped.
Our preliminary compliance check examines the key factors that determine whether a case appears standard, requires additional evidence, depends on a special regulation, or should not be carried out without individual official clarification.
